Dow surges 187 points as Wal-Mart jumps; Cisco leads Nasdaq to record close
Wal-Mart reported better-than-expected quarterly results, boosted by a surge in grocery and online sales.Cisco also reported earnings and revenue that beat Wall Street expectations, lifted in part by strong sales of software applications.Before Thursday's rebound, the major stock indexes came had fallen in their previous two sessions.
